Three Go Bang at Basing
The weather did not live up to the stormy expectation - in fact the only rain we saw was a relatively short spell after the battle.
We arrived just after 10am on Saturday and having an hour to kill before powder issue popped into the Blue Boar for a leisurely half and discuss our plan for the day and wait for powder issue. Following powder issue we found a spare bit of field and did some sword practice.
There was a little dissention in the ranks but we eventually decided to play Parliament for the afternoon and joined Vaughan’s and Rivers for the afternoon making a considerable addition to their firing Musket. The forecast was not great with rain predicted for Saturday pm and there was a bit after the battle but otherwise it was a dry day.
It was an entertaining afternoon and we all agreed an enjoyable start to the season, even if Godolphin’s did get a little over enthusiastic in making sure I was dead.
